Are you just absolutely frustrated with your old PC but won’t let go? It’s amazing how attached
we’ve become to our old beat up, freezing up, Windows 98, Windows Me, or Windows 2000 PC, refusing to let go – and take that leap of faith into a new, more robust, more exciting, fast track PC. Why should I buy a new PC, this one is just fine! A little slow, with pop-ups everywhere, out of date anti-virus software and dial-up service!
Time after time, we see customers that continually have their old PC’s “re-done”; reloading the operating system (OS), installing all the programs all over again and moving data back and forth to the PC. By the time those customers pay us for this service once or twice, they could have been dating “two younger PCs”
SO - GREAT! You’ve decided to move on to a new computer after spending thousands of dollars on the old dead-beat PC and just as you leave our office with your new “younger PC”, you turn around and say: “Would you donate that old PC to a needy family?” – WHAT! No way; - no one wants your 6-year
old PC, certainly nothing earlier than Windows 2000. However, let’s say that we did. Aren’t you concerned about the data on the hard drive? Confidential information about you or your business; and what about identity theft? The best advice when donating a computer is to remove the hard drive and destroy it with a sledge hammer.
So you bought a new computer and all frustrations are over, Right? Well, getting a new computer to feel like your old computer is no easy task; it’s right down impossible. You start to load your programs and all of a sudden you get messages that the Windows operating
system is not compatible with the program you are trying to install or vice versa. What about hooking up your printer or scanner? Guess what? You are correct “non-compatible” – don’t even try Vista; - nothing is compatible with Vista.
PCs and the love-hate relationship we endure with them will never go away; even at our office we experience moments of frustration but what would we do without Google, online banking, movie listings, or emails? We’ve become so dependent on PCs and the Internet that with all of their ups and down we still have a need to love them!
